Community support helps develop club facilities

2017 has been a big year for upgrades at the club and we have a lot of thanks to give to local community grants schemes and local suppliers for helping us improve our facilities.

Thanks to the City of Karratha and the Woodside North West Shelf Venture’s community grants scheme and Cold Point Refrigeration, we now have A/C in the clubrooms.

Earlier in the year the Pilbara Port Authority awarded us a grant to help us install windows, sliding doors and security screens with assistance from Karratha Glass to install them.

The vision for improving our club facilities, making them a more enjoyable place to hang out and also a more marketable venue for third parties to hire, is coming to fruition. The A/C, windows, sliding doors, kitchen improvements and soon to come flooring overhaul and club room painting will be the icing on the cake.

The addition of an air conditioning system in the club rooms might sound the such a simple thing, we all know how important A/C is up here in the Pilbara. Whilst we all know that the main reason we installed this was to keep Danny cool while he retrieves cool drinks for everyone, the benefits of this simple addition are going to be much greater than this.

The windows and sliding doors, again seemingly simple, add a lot not only to the look and feel of the club rooms, but also functionality with easy access to the bar and canteen from outside (as no doubt a lot of you have already discovered).

Activity at the club this year has been so strong that we’ve gained the attention of the local newspaper with this piece coming out recently (it’s not like Drewy to be in the spotlight!!).

And finally, most of you will have noticed a little more greenery lately, thanks in large to the two big green thumbs of club member Andrew “Churchy” Churchman and help from Danny. We also received a a little helping hand from Noel from North West Tree Services by letting us have a couple of (big) bucket loads of mulch – thanks Noel.

Keep your ears out for a busy bee coming in the new year as we still have a lot of grand plans and need everyone’s help to get there.
