Both the Hedland & Karratha Kart Clubs participate in a Memorial Race Meeting every May, which is in memory of Mr Dave Gibson who was a member of the Hedland Kart Club.

On the 18th May 1994 there was a combined meeting between the 2 clubs at the Karratha Track. It was a great Meeting with good competitive racing between the two clubs, the over all champion of the day with the most points in the seniors was Dave Gibson, not long after the completion of his last race Dave died from a heart attack. The 2 clubs now dedicated there May meeting to the great sportsman.

There are 2 Trophies at this meeting 1 for Seniors and 1 for Juniors, both the senior and junior that compile the most points over the day hold the annual Dave Gibson Memorial Trophies. A Gallery of the 1999 meeting and some past Memorial Champion's.
